The house
Okada Werk drew a courtyard house for a site with no view worth framing, so the house makes its own. Four wings enclose a square of gravel and one maple; every principal room looks into it.
The roof is a single continuous plane with a slot cut over the colonnade, so the courtyard gets a moving band of light across the day and the rooms behind it never get direct sun.
