The Alder Pavilion
Three timber volumes set into a second-growth clearing.
The house
Renna split the brief into three: one volume to live in, one to sleep in, one to work in, connected by a covered walkway that leaves you outside for a few paces between each. In February that is a decision you notice.
The clearing was already there — no trees were taken. The pavilions sit on screw piles so the root systems run underneath undisturbed, and the whole thing could be removed in a fortnight leaving nothing but holes.
