North Light Studio

Drawn for a painter, and never altered since.

North Light Studio on the quarry shoulder

The house

Boyd drew this around one room: a nine-metre studio lit entirely from the north, with not a single opening on the south wall. The painter it was built for worked here for twenty-two years and changed nothing.

The rest of the house is deliberately modest, and reads as service to the studio rather than as accommodation with a studio attached.

Held privately. Details on application.
